I'm definitely enjoying seeing which beers you're trying, especially since my knowledge of German beers is fairly limited.
Did you ever try the Rauchbier that Professor McCarty had at one of our German meetings over the summer? If not, keep an eye out for one. It's probably not something one would want to drink all that regularly, but it's also not something you'd want to miss out on.
Quite the dark beers you got this time. How did you like Jever? I'm not sure if a Canadian could handle it, its very different from the supersmooth beers over here.
The Jever was good. The only one of all the beers I've tried that I haven't like is one of the darks, the Louny, I believe. It was way too sweet. Blech.
That's one thing I've noticed about food in the grocery store here--just like in the US it's all got sugar added to it! I refuse to eat potato salad and pickles with sugar. I really like the Senf though!
Mike, I don't remember the Rauchbier. I will be on the lookout.
